ColourTemperature(CCT):WhatItIsandHowToChooseIt

In the world of lighting, certain technical terms may initially seem complex, but they are fundamental when choosing between the various products available. These include colour temperature, often referred to as CCT (Correlated Colour Temperature).

This concept influences the way a space is perceived and helps to create certain atmospheres. Therefore, understanding the meaning of values such as 3000K, 4000K or 6000K allows you to choose lighting solutions that best suit the needs of each environment — be it residential, industrial or professional.

What is Colour Temperature?

Colour temperature is a way of describing the shade of light emitted by a light source, measured in kelvins (K). It can vary between warmer (yellowish), more neutral (white) or colder (bluish) tones.

Depending on the application, the right colour temperature can completely change the atmosphere of a space — making it more welcoming, more functional, or more stimulating.

What are the Main Colour Temperatures?

3000K – Warm White

This is the shade of light that comes closest to sunset or candlelight. It is cosy, comfortable, and ideal for environments where you want to relax or create a feeling of comfort.

Where to use it?

Living rooms, bedrooms, dining areas or even shops that want a more intimate atmosphere.

4000K – Neutral White

This more balanced light is a versatile choice and is often used in spaces where it is important to see clearly.

Where to use it?

Kitchens, bathrooms, offices, corridors, clinics, or shops.

6000K – Cool White

This shade of light has a more bluish appearance, conveying a feeling of energy, focus and cleanliness.

Where to use it?

Garages, outdoor spaces, technical areas, industrial warehouses, or places where maximum visibility and concentration are required.

By understanding the different CCTs and how they influence the perception of light, it is possible to make more informed decisions tailored to the character and purpose of each space.

At ASLO, we believe that lighting should go beyond the basic function of illuminating: it should create experiences, enhance architecture, and promote well-being. That is why we offer solutions that cover different colour temperatures, guaranteeing not only efficiency and quality, but also versatility.
